Bruce Willis
Musician and actor Bruce Willis is well
known for his witty or sharp-edged characters, usually in stunning action
films. Collectively, he has appeared in films with a budget over $2.5 billion
dollars. Walter Bruce Willis, a West German-born actor, was born in
Idar–Oberstein West Germany on March 19 1955, to Marlene Kassel (from Carneys
Point), and David Andrew Willis (from New Jersey) who resided on a military
base within the United States. The family moved to the U.S. soon after he was
born. Willis was born in Penns Grove by his mother who worked for an
institution, and his father who was a welder who was a factory worker and
welder. Willis began to develop an interest in the drama arts while in high
school. He was "discovered" when he worked in the cafe in a New York
City cafe. Later, he appeared in various off-Broadway productions. While
bartending one night and he was noticed by the casting director who was
impressed by his persona and was in need of bartenders for a tiny film role.
Willis auditioned for a range of roles in movies, but was not acknowledged. He
finally got the role of David Addison, a private eye, along with Cybill
Shepherd, in the romantic comedy show Moonlighting (1985). His humorous and
wisecracking P.I. Some see it as a practice run to test Willis his role in Die
Hard (1988), where he defeated an international gang of thieves from a Los
Angeles skyscraper. In Die Hard 2 (1990) Willis reprised his role. The group of
rebellious Special Forces soldiers is trying to bring back a corrupt South
American general. They are set in Washington's Dulles International Airport.
The film's excellent performance at the box office prompted a sequel to Die
Hard with bloodshed (1995). This time, Samuel L. Jackson starred as a shrewd
Harlem shop owner, who was accidentally forced to assist McClane during a
terror attack on a hot New York City day.
